About 2 months ago I had downloaded the demo of it just to check it out and see if it could help me get around the long wait until a really new SSX or 1080° arrives. Already back then I noticed quite a few glitches with the collision detection and some aspects of the physics engine that gave the game a little bit of a rushed feeling to me, but nothing all that major to keep me from enjoying the demo. There was one problem though: For a filler I'm not really motivated to pay the full price so I waited for a good offer for it.
And when it came a few days ago on Gameware.at I immediately (well, after writing another exam) took the chance and ordered a copy. When it arrived yesterday I only had a couple of minutes with it, but even those were great.
It's not really the classic aspects of such a game that made those few minutes so great for me, but more things like the cutscenes, menus and simply some great ideas. During the first few minutes you take a lift up to the top of a mountain with a bunch of friends ... while you being dressed as a pink bunny (in those full-body suites and not the Playboy edition ;) ). This like that simply give the game a totally different style than SSX. Everything is way more on the light side although some of it must have been created under the influence of certain substances ;)
Then tonight I played a little longer and also finished a few of the competitions. Everything seems even more integrated into the mountain experience than it was in SSX3. When you want to participate in an event, you have to get to go to it using your board or snow speeder. This way it even has an Aggressive Inline flair for me (I never played any Tony Hawk's game so I can't really make any comparisons there).
The events I made this evening were also quite challenging so I guess I will have quite a lot to play with this game :-) Too bad I won't have a chance to play it again until probably Sunday evening thanks to University stuff and the first barcamp in Carinthia :D
